A wonderful treat for the body is Okura Spa’s Lavender Orchid Calming Retreat located at the five-star hotel, The Okura Prestige Bangkok. This temporary special offer includes access to the steam and sauna facilities and an invigorating 30-minute body scrub massage followed by a 60-minute essential oil massage using the finest ingredients to make your skin glow and feel rejuvenated. This special spa experience is available from July 1 to September 30, 2018.
When booking your Lavender Orchid Calming Retreat, it is highly advised to arrive an hour before your appointment to enjoy the steam room or sauna. Although you are welcome to use the facility after your treatment, it is recommended to prepare your skin for the body scrub by steaming or sweating your skin for at least 15 to 20 minutes. This will ensure that you optimize the benefits of the invigorating sugar body scrub that is infused with fragrant lavender and orchid extract. The organic brown sugar gave a refreshing granular exfoliation that left a tingling and fresh sensation. The rhythmic hand movements ensured
that the brown sugar scrub was still relaxing. The lavender essence is used for the calming aroma and the orchid essence is meant to provide anti-oxidizing benefits to promote younger looking skin.
After your skin is buffed, your body receives a soothing oil aromatherapy massage with essential oils of almonds, lavender, and orchids. The scent is not subtle but lasts on the skin. This is another reason why you wouldn’t want to use the steam room or sauna after your spa treatment because you would wash away the exquisite oils that are good for the skin.
The Okura Spa is a calming space of dark wood with a modern Japanese aesthetic. All the details from the pottery used in the welcome drink to the furnishings to the treatments all carry them of Okura’s Japanese roots.
What makes this Lavender Orchid Calming Retreat a superior experience is the impeccable service, ambiance, and the fine touches like the heating pad under a duvet mattress of the massage bed. I’m a sucker for these little details that you will only find in the five-star spa operations.
The overall impression of this treatment was worth every Thai Baht. It is an easy choice for spoiling yourself with a mini-retreat that will make your skin look younger and make you feel fresh and relaxed.
Other note-worthy signature spa treatments at the Okura Spa is the Ta-Ke Relief Massage. This particular treatment is on my bucket list because it involves rolling out muscle tension a bit deeper than a regular hand massage thanks to the heated bamboo sticks and the rolling action on various parts of the body.
