How to enjoy a beautiful sunset, good food, and the sound of the ocean from your private open-air living room at Mandalay Beach Villas Koh Samui.
Sometimes when life gets too hectic you just have this great need to just get away. Away from the tall claustrophobic buildings, cars, traffic, loud noises, bright lights, and the general sensory overload that can attack, especially when you live in a big city. And sometimes, all you need for that break are a couple of friends, great view, good food, and the sound of wind in the trees or waves peacefully rolling onto the sand … a beautiful sunset never hurts, either. What if I told you that there is a place in Thailand far enough from the realities of day-to-day life, but not so far that you feel disconnected, where you can enjoy all of the above from the comfort of your own modern, stylish open-air living room?
Upon landing at Koh Samui international airport, we were greeted with cool bottled water and a van to take us to our private luxury villa, only about a 20-minute drive away: Mandalay Beach Villas Koh Samui (→www.mandalaybeachvillas.com). Upon entering the villa, we were greeted by our two live-in villa staff members, who brought us welcome drinks and some refreshing cold towels. We were shown around the property, which boasts three large bedrooms and bathrooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen connected to a dining area, and a TV room with a large 3-D flat screen TV, Apple TV, a DVD player, and a sound system attached to speakers all around the villa. The villa also features a large private pool with underwater LED lights, setting a real romantic atmosphere every evening. A few steps down past the pool, and you are on the beach. From almost anywhere you are in the villa, you can gaze out into the horizon. My personal favorite was the covered cabana with lazy lawn chairs….. sitting on them gave you the feeling of being on the ocean! There is also a kayak for you whenever you want. A guard patrols the beach in front of the villa, so security is never of concern. Aaah! our own private luxurious paradise for the next couple of days.
The villa staff played a definite role in our overall experience. Whether it was food, water, towels, transportation, excursions, massages, snacks from the nearest convenience store, or even information, they were always there with answers and solutions and unfailingly made us constantly feel welcome and at home, instilling in us the feeling that nothing was ever out of reach or too much of a hassle, because of them; their service was so heartfelt and always, always with an irresistible smile!
All in all, I give Mandalay Beach Villas five out of five stars, with rooms, service, ambience, security, and relaxation all accounted for. Highly recommended for a group of friends, a family (the whole area is very child-friendly), as well as for couples. Perfect for groups looking for pure relaxation but combined with luxury. I am already dreaming of my next visit!
