Some call it an obsession, others insist it's passion. Travelling is lauded by many people, considering it’s a great pastime that borders on exploration and adventure, while some criticise it, treating it as merely a waste of money and time.
But what other people think doesn’t matter at all. What do YOU think of travelling? Would you want to explore every corner of this planet and break the monotony of your daily life with travel adventures? Or would you prefer to just browse through National Geographic magazines and see the world through others' eyes?
If it's the former, we salute you!
Now, before you get carried away with your bucket list, here's a list of the necessary travel arrangements you have to complete:
- Prepare Visa and other documents
- Book round trip flights
- Check the standard weight for check-in luggage. Normally, you’re allowed to check-in 14kls for free, but other airlines could have different specifications.
- Avoid bringing strong-smelling foods in your carry-on, like dried fruit or fish, durian candies, rich sauces, etc. Save them for the cargo.
- Keep things minimal. Don't bring bottles of lotion, body cream, cologne or perfume, hand sanitisers, etc. for your flight. Stock up on these when you land to avoid being detained at the airport.
- Arrange for an airport transfer
- Book a hotel
- When looking for a business centre Vancouver, there is only one company to call - Regus!
Visas are documents issued by an immigration office that authorises a person to leave or enter a foreign territory. There are different types of visas, but for you, you need a tourist visa to allow you at least 3 months to stay in a foreign country.
This is a cheaper option because most airlines give huge discounts on round trip fares. Plus, it's more convenient on your part because you don't have to worry about booking another flight home.
Here are a few reminders before you embark on your flight:

It's incredibly inconvenient when you're ready to explore and tour but you have to endure long taxi queues at the airport. Well, say goodbye to that because you can book a car hire or rental for your trip.
Lastly, find a convenient and affordable hotel where you can stay for a few nights on your tour. If you're staying for more than a month, you might find it practical to get a part time job as a barista, perhaps(?) or a food server at a local pub. You'll still have time to go touring around the city but have financial sustenance to get you through the day.
There's no such thing as “travelling is too expensive” or “I'm too busy to travel”. If you want to experience and see what the world has to offer, you'll need to find a way!
