Thanyapura Health and Sports Resorts announces the appointment of Damien Rider, ultra-endurance athlete, actor, author and 2015 Australian Men’s Health Man of the Year, as its resident brand ambassador.

In his new role, Rider will promote Thanyapura as a destination for healthy holidays, sports training and executive health retreats, as well as run speciality camps and personal training at the Phuket based resort. Rider will conduct his first Wellness Weekend on 22-25 August 2019, a series of weekends offering the ultimate platform to detox, train and fuel for optimal health. The weekend will showcase his training methods and one breath meditation technique, and he will soon launch week-long training camps called Peak Week, offering a more intensive and immersive training experience.

Commenting on the announcement, Damien Rider said, “Thanyapura fits who I am and what I believe in. This place inspires people to improve and transform their lives and lifestyles for the better, and that inspires me.”

Situated on the tropical Thai island of Phuket, Thanyapura is home to world-class sports facilities, an integrated health centre and expert coaching. Promoting ‘active wellness’ and offering a range of sports training, lifestyle improvement and executive health programmes and camps, the resort is designed to help individuals of all ages and abilities optimise their lives and lifestyles through exercise, nutrition and mindfulness.

“We are very excited to have Damien on board as our Resident Brand Ambassador,” said Ruben Toral, Vice President of Business Development at Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort. “He’s an inspirational character that embodies our philosophy of personal optimisation, and his achievements as an athlete and humanitarian speak for themselves. We have new programmes in executive health and corporate retreats and Damien will be a big part of that offering moving forward.”

Known for always pushing himself to the limit, Rider has broken world records for his 800km solo paddle boarding expedition from Australia’s Gold Coast to Bondi Beach. His gruelling 17-day journey was captured in a National Geographic feature film titled, Heart of The Sea, which showcases his story of courage, inspiration and belief that anything is possible. He also developed the one breath meditation method, a tool that quickly turns stress into calm and helps individuals maintain calm and control when faced with challenges.

Rider ran the Gold Coast Marathon carrying a 16kg mattress to show that there is never any burden too big and that we can all push through challenging barriers. As a humanitarian, Damien established the PACA (Paddle Against Child Abuse) under the Rider Foundation to change lives and allow opportunities for disadvantaged children. He also created the first Child Abuse Awareness Week, which took place in Australia and Thailand.
