Just prior to the gala, Rossen Dimitrov met with H.E. the Italian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Lorenzo Galanti, in the Italian Embassy in Bangkok. Welcoming Air Italy and the airline’s inaugural flight to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Galanti and Mr. Dimitrov discussed a wide range of topics, including trade, tourism, business connectivity and how to further develop the already strong bonds between Italy and Thailand and to increase tourism and business travel in both directions.
Air Italy hosted a sumptuous private gala dinner to complete the celebrations for the launch of its newest route Milan-Bangkok.
The dinner was hosted by Rossen Dimitrov, Air Italy Chief Customer Experience Officer, and Andrea Andorno, Air Italy Chief Commercial Officer, with VIP guests led by Mrs. Manuela Cavaccini Cataldo, Representative of ENIT (the Italian Tourism Board), together with an array of top trade and industry partners and representatives.
Rossen Dimitrov said: “It has been an honor to mark the start of this, our new three-but-soon-rising-to-five-times weekly service from Milan to Bangkok in the company of so many illustrious guests, including top government officials, influential business leaders and heads of commerce. We have been warmly welcomed by the people of Bangkok, who have come together to recognize the importance of our new route into Thailand’s capital city, showcasing this country’s legendary hospitality.”
Guests were also joined by a selection of key media from Italy who had traveled on the inaugural flight from Milan to Bangkok as guests of Air Italy and the Thai Tourism Board as well as local media, to participate in the gala dinner and music performance by Italian classical troupe, Ensemble Le Muse.

H.E. Ambassador Lorenzo Galanti said: “I wish to congratulate Air Italy for its successful inaugural flight from Milan Malpensa to Bangkok. It is a remarkable achievement as Air Italy is today the only Italian carrier operating a direct flight between the Kingdom of Thailand and Italy.
“From now on, the two countries can increase their connectivity to the greater benefit of business travelers and tourists choosing Italy and Thailand as their destinations, thus multiplying opportunities for our peoples to better know and appreciate each other’s culture and values.”
Bangkok is Air Italy’s third new international route launched this summer, after New York and Miami, and the first in Asia. This will shortly be followed by two new routes from Milan to Delhi and Mumbai, in India, with Delhi launching on October 28 and Mumbai on October 30.
All Air Italy international destinations are served by the carrier, via Milan Malpensa, with seamless connectivity from Rome Fiumicino, Sicily (Catania, Palermo), Naples, Calabria (Lamezia Terme) and Sardinia (Olbia).
Air Italy’s new services between Milan Malpensa and Thailand are operated with Air Italy’s new long-haul Airbus A330-200, which offers up to 24 seats in the exclusive Business Class cabin making it possible to fly with maximum comfort in fully lie-flat seats with signature Italian cuisine accompanied by a selection of champagnes and Italian fine wines, Wi-Fi service, an extensive in-flight entertainment service and the personalized attention from its onboard staff.
The Economy Class cabin with 228 seats also provides Air Italy’s guests with highly personalized service, Wi-Fi and a wide selection of entertainment.
