Sarah Smith, the General Manager of Jamie’s Italian Siam Discovery
Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver is pleased to announce the opening general manager for the first Jamie’s Italian restaurant in Thailand, set to open in the fourth quarter of this year. Sarah Smith, winner of the Jamie’s Italian International Rising Star award for 2015/2016, is the new general manager of Jamie’s Italian Siam Discovery.
With more than 12 years of experience in the food and beverage business, Sarah Smith, born in Plymouth, UK, has been a part of the Jamie’s Italian family since 2009. She has worked in multiple Jamie’s Italian restaurants in Cardiff, Bath, and Threadneedle Street, London. She was also a member of the management team for Jamie’s Italian Singapore in 2014 and the opening management team for Jamie’s Italian Kuta Beach, Bali, Indonesia, in 2015.
A highly driven and achievement-oriented person, Sarah Smith said: “I’ve always loved working in the hospitality industry because I enjoy meeting people, giving guests a great experience and, of course, because of the opportunity to work with some fantastic food and drink products. Jamie’s Italian is unique to work for as the company is truly passionate about the concept and ideals of the restaurant and doesn’t compromise on quality and standards. Jamie’s Italian is all about passion, from the chefs, the wait team and bartenders, all the way to the lovely people who wash the dishes and polish the cutlery. Our team are really important – we wouldn’t have a restaurant without them, which is why we invest so much time in training them. We want to grow talent from within the business and for our new team to become the General Managers and Head Chefs of the future, progressing through the ranks just like I did.”
Taking up her new role in Thailand, Sarah will be the key person to set up the new Jamie’s Italian Siam Discovery, which is situated in the heart of Bangkok and proudly brought to you by Hotel Properties Limited and Siam Piwat. All guests can expect authentic, delicious and homely Italian cooking with a Jamie twist, together with friendly, warm and welcoming service.
31-year-old general manager, Sarah said: “I’m very proud to be heading up the opening of the first Jamie’s Italian in Thailand. The food scene in Bangkok is amazing, it’s a truly exciting time for restaurants here and I’m pleased that Jamie’s Italian is going to be part of it. There are some really great Italian restaurants here, but nothing quite like Jamie’s Italian. I think we’re going to be a welcome addition to the Siam area with our nearly 200-seat restaurant. We’re busy putting together and training our team of really passionate chefs, service staff and our brilliant office team who keep everything moving. I’m really looking forward to opening the restaurant, seeing our team in action and welcoming our first guests through the door.”
