Destination Mai Khao Beach Group hosted Phuket’s biggest Australia Day celebrations at the M Beach Club on Sunday, 26 January.
Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana, along with his wife Mrs Sittinee Tavipatana, and Phuket Vice Governor Wongsakorn Noochukhan attended and presented a bouquet to Matthew Barclay, Australia Consul General at the Australian Consulate General Phuket.
The afternoon saw over three hundred Australian expatriates, Phuket residents and guests enjoy the day together, the event featuring numerous Australia food stalls, seafood and BBQ stations, fun games of thong tossing in the dunny, bouncing castle, face painting, and a pavlova contest.
Phuket Live Radio 9.5 FM provided live entertainment, with DJ Jason Wilder and a band performance by Australian band Colin Illy Hill.
The Destination Mai Khao Beach Group also raised funds for the Australia bushfire efforts, with all proceeds being donated to the Australian Salvation Army in support of communities that have been affected by the fires.
