The celebrated chef and owner of Astrid y Gastón (named after him and his pastry-chef wife), a restaurant that has been ranked among the top 20 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for three years in a row, is coming to Bangkok to cook up a series of tasting and à la carte dishes for foodies in town.

Chef Gaston Acurio, also a writer and entrepreneur, is one of the most important ambassadors of Peruvian cuisine in the world and currently operates more than 40 restaurants in 9 countries, across 12 different brands.

During May 17–19, Acurio will take over the Lord Jim’s restaurant kitchen, at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, to showcase some Peruvian staple dishes including ceviche, tiraditos, and causas, for a fine-dining experience of the cuisine of this Latin American country.

Cebiche Classico

White fish, classic leche de tigre, choclo, sweet potatoes, cancha

Tiradito Lima-Bangkok

Tuna tataki, Ají Amarillo with coconut leche de tigre, pickled sweet chili, green papaya strings

Causa Limeña

Purple potatoes causa, king crab, avocado, quail egg, tomato and Ají Amarillo cream, salmon roe

Broccoli Pachikay

Charred broccoli, smoky red pepper sauce, Ají Amarillo Pachikay, crispy rice noodles, pickled sweet chili

Huatia

Braised veal cheek, Ají Apanca with red wine reduction, quinoa tamales, radish, and mint criolla

Mousse de Chocolate

Peruvian chocolate mousse, crispy quinoa, cacao nibs, cacao meringues

Pulpo Elegante

Grilled octopus, anticuchera sauce, potato cream, black olive alioli garlic chips and roasted piquillo pepper

Estofado de Cordero

Braised boneless lamb hind, quinoa tamales, pickles salad

Pie de Limón

Mousse de Chocolate

Peruvian chocolate mousse, crispy quinoa, cacao nibs, cacao meringues

How much: THB 3,500++ per person for the 5-course tasting menu and THB 4,800++ per person for the 7-course tasting menu. A la carte options will also be available from THB 400++ to THB 1,300++ per dish.
