Wine Garage is excited to welcome back one of Australia’s most distinguished wine personalities—Gary Mills, the self-taught winemaker who created the cultish Jamsheed label in 2003 and the leader of the cool-climate Australian wine movement.
This time Wine Garage is introducing him to the new Aussies in town—those cool folks at the newly-opened Freebird. Led by Dallas Cuddy in the kitchen and Marcus Boyle in the dining room, their modern Australian restaurant deep in quiet Sukhumvit Soi 47 serves up daring and original dishes that are paradoxically subtle and sophisticated. A perfect match for Gary’s wild-ferment and unfiltered single-varietal wine of pure fruit and defined structure.

About Gary Mills
Originally from WA, Gary Mills completed a bachelor of literature, before moving to Japan to study and work as an English teacher. Upon returning to Australia, after a brief stint a tour guide in Queensland, and began working in the vineyards of Margaret River.
Gary followed his career path working at Ridge Vineyards in California for 2 years under the tutelage of Paul Draper before working in Oregon and various regions in Australia.
From there the Jamsheed label began in 2003 with a focus on Single Vineyard Syrah’s and aromatic whites from unique sites in Victoria.
