Celebrated Italian Chef Giancarlo Perbellini to feature at VIU of The St. Regis Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand (1 August, 2013) – The St. Regis Bangkok will bring Michelin Star dining to the city when they introduce Italian chef Giancarlo Perbellini from the 25th to 29th September.

Perbellini, who will feature in a five day promotion at VIU, will showcase his individualistic approach to the art of cuisine through a series of specially designed menus including a four course set lunch menu, a six course degustation dinner menu and an a la carte offering some of his internationally acclaimed signature recipes that will be available both lunch and dinner.

True gourmands may also choose to reserve an exclusive Chef’s Table experience where Perbellini will prepare between eight and ten courses, personalised to guests’ tastes and preferences and perfectly paired with wine.

Founder or some of Italy’s most celebrated restaurants including the Two Michelin Starred Dodici Apostoli and Marconi with one Michelin Star, Giancarlo has also graced the kitchens of San Domenico in Imola with Valentino Mercattilii before leaving Italy to work at Taillevent, L’Ambroisie and Le Chateau d’Esclimont in Paris and La Terrasse in Juan les Pins. He also spent time in London with Chef Alberico Penati.

Giancarlo_1On his return to Italy, he became sous-chef at the Michelin-starred Concorde in Villa Poma, Milan. In 1989 he returned to his father’s birthplace, opening his own restaurant in Isola Rizza, followed by four further eateries, dreaming up the concept of multi-level cuisine without ever compromising on taste or the quality of his ingredients. He launched two pizzerias, Du de Cope in Verona and Villafranca, Il Capitan della Cittadella, a trattoria serving fish specialities, and a wine bar and restaurant, Enoteca Zero7, both in Verona.

In 2010 Perbellini was appointed president of the Italian committee for the “Bocuse d’Or” competition.

Lovers of cuisine can enjoy the Giancarlo Perbellini experience with set menu inclusive of wine pairing or the truly unique Chef’s Table. An a la carte menu exclusively crafted by Giancarlo will also be on offer. Astor Card and SPG members will be entitled to enjoy their privileges throughout this promotion.
