The open kitchen of La Scala, The Sukhothai Bangkok will be filled with the intoxicating and irresistible aroma of White Truffles from the Alba region of northern Italy, starting with an exclusive one night Gala Dinner paired with the finest wines on 4 December 2012 and continuing with an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner through 5-23 December 2012.
Truffles, or “tartufi”, are rich-flavoured mushrooms which first appear in early autumn. They are rounded though irregularly shaped, white truffles usually being double the size of black truffles, with a smooth exterior and a pungent fragrance best described as a blend of garlic, mushrooms and matured parmesan cheese.
Our Italian Master Chef Maurizio Menconi has specially prepared the one night Gala Dinner and a la carte menus to highlight the distinct flavours of White Truffles, which include sumptuous Guinea Fowl, Duck Foie Gras Ravioli, Seared Hokkaido Scallops and Tapioca-Milk Soup, as well as White Truffle Ice Cream.
